A training course dedicated to environmental surveillance and wildlife monitoring in windfarm areas aimed at internal personnel has been held by Catalan Government in June 2016.

The course has deepened on several related topics such as the significant impacts on birds and bats and factors involved, the studies required in the Environmental Impact Assessment process, the different available methods to monitor the operational phase and the compensatory measures applied to wildlife.

MN Consultants has been involved in it with the communication on Compensatory measures for wildlife in wind farms. This reviews the compensatory policy in the context of European wind farms for different animal taxa, and focuses on methodological description and the results obtained in several assays planned and executed by MN in recent years.

The course finished in June 22 with a field trip to the wind farm Coll del Moro in Terra Alta, where people could see the compensatory measures directed to the rabbit population recovery in the range of a couple of Bonelli's eagles.
