In 2007 the Andalusian Government developed an ambitious proposal to develop a regional strategy on Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM). With it responds to the Recommendation of the European Parliament and the Council in 2002 on the implementation of ICZM in Europe, as well as non-legislative proposal on Integrated Coastal Areas, adopted at the sitting of Parliament Andaluz in 2005.
In the process of developing the strategy involved and all actors involved in the Andalusian coastline coordination. Fishermen, port authorities, tourism businesses, universities, conservation associations, administrations, etc., in order to have an effective instrument and to help achieve a more integrated and efficient management of this territory, which combines the conservation of environmental values and social and economic progress.
